Countering Wikileaks

Thanks to kulak for this gem: Felt it had to be published as a separate post:

Wikileaks? There is an easy way to secure all government documents, and to prevent any further security leaks.

Keep all of America's classified documents in the same filing cabinet as President Obama's college transcripts, passport information, nationality documents and birth certificate(s).

Problem solved.

If the government has nothing to hide, then what are they afraid of when people release classified information? If the government can conduct surveillance on the people, why can't the people conduct surveillance on the government?

Speaking of Jug Ears' background, the reason no one has been successful in finding his birth certificate is because they are looking in the wrong spot.

Better luck here:

A favourite expression of governments -- and police states everywhere -- is:- "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear ..."

I think Orwell wrote that.

So, the question that should be asked is:- What do all these government lackeys have to fear?

After all, "If you have nothing to hide ...

Uncle Nasty - I do think there is a distinction here. In fairness, it's simply not possible to conduct diplomacy in the open. I think Stalin once said something along these lines.

I agree entirely, so ... when the govt allows me my small secrets, I will allow them theirs.

Until then, roll on Wikileaks.
