Guess the organisation...

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:

* 29 have been accused of spousal abuse

* 7 have been arrested for fraud

* 19 have been accused of writing bad checks

* 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses

* 3 have done time for assault

* 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit

* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges

* 8 have been arrested for shoplifting

* 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits

* 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year...

And the answer is? The United States Congress! And we thought our guys were bad!

You are easy. As a yank, I suspect you have fallen for a whitewash. The corruption has to be much worse.

You mean much worse in the US or Ireland?

Theodore Breehn said...

Than the quoted stats in the US.

I have not been in Ireland for at least a decade and a half. The corruption was miniscule compared to an American state, let alone our federal masters.

I am sure, with the joining of the EC and its engorgement, thinks are looking up for the hack politician in the land of my ancestors.

I see. Yes, when you look at the Cheney/Halliburton example and similar prok projects you'd have to wonder. Here in ireland it's pretty small beer all right, but as you say, with an ever-growing European stage, the opprtunities will increase nicely.

A lot of quotes are attributed to Abe Lincoln that have turned out not to have been his. One that is true even if not his is,

"No man's liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session."

I like it!
